RESOURCES FOR BREEDERS

Why and how do I register my litter and kittens with the CCC?

Why?

The Animal Pedigree Act requires that all purebred cats living in Canada be registered and listed in a single Canadian registry. This registry is maintained by the CCC in agreement with the federal government.

How do I register my litter and kittens with the CCC?

Please note that the dam must be registered with the CCC as well as the sire (ideally).

If the sire is not registered with the CCC, a copy of his certificate of registration and certified pedigree must accompany the Litter Registration Application.

How do I fill the Litter Registration Application

Page 1

Fill the requested information. Do not forget signatures: signature of the owner of the dam at the time of mating and signature of the owner of the sire at the time of mating.

If you know the names of the kitten' future owners, all appropriate fields must be filled and you must provide the following information on the future owners:

  • First and last name of future owners
  • Complete address with postal code
  • Telephone number
  • Email address

The above information is essential as it will also be used to register the microchip number in the Canadian database (you do not need to fill a form to register the microchip, it’s a service provided by the CCC upon registration of your kitten(s)).

If you don’t know the coordinates of the future owners, do not fill page 2; you will be provided with a temporary registration for each kitten to be completed when you have the information.

Calculate the total amount of fees: Litter registration fees and individual registration fees for each kitten plus applicable taxes.
