Education - First Aid

PET FIRST AID
(Available in english)

Individuals who successfully complete this training will receive a St. John Ambulance certification valid for 3 years.

This one-day course is intended for individuals wishing to acquire basic knowledge of first aid and prevention for pets.

The general objectives of the course are:

  • Intervene quickly and effectively in an emergency with an animal;
  • Recognize a medical problem to provide appropriate first aid;
  • Increase confidence through hands-on workshops.

Some of the topics covered in this course are:

  1. Preventative medicine
  2. Management of emergency situation;
  3. Artificial respiration on dogs and cats;
  4. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation on dogs and cats;
  5. Choking;
  6. Bleeding and sores;
  7. Fractures;
  8. Burns;
  9. Epileptic seizures and convulsions;
  10. Allergic reactions;
  11. Injuries to eyes and ears;
  12. Problems due to heat and cold;
  13. Encounter with fauna (skunks, porcupine, etc.)
  14. And much more!

Each participant will receive a manual covering more than 35 emergency situations requiring first aid.

The courses are open to all, whether you are a member or non-member, breeder, owner or simply an animal lover.
